ENGINE HOUSE,
BRISTOL
The top floor was removed and two storeys were added on top of the existing concrete encased steel frame to provide nine flats, while keeping the ground floor for commercial use.
Â
The new steel frame used lightweight infill and brickslips for the cladding. The loads increased considerably on the internal columns. After carefully investigating the columns and foundations no strengthening was required.
