WINDMILL HILL CITY FARM CAFE,
BRISTOL
ICC designed glulam frames with stiff connections, forming portalised frames and avoiding bracing. Steel dowels instead of bolts provide a subtle connection detail in keeping with the light, open look of the cafe.
An extensive thickness of rubble from demolished Victorian houses was across the site. Instead of using piling, ICC proved that traditional foundations were satisfactory making the project financially viable since piling would have cost as much as the extension itself.
